Cooling Tech Usb Microscope Software
Hi folks, I received a Chinese digital microscope as a gift, and the accompanying software is extremely poor and buggy (bad interface, mostly). I'd like to be able to capture either video or stills from it, but I'm not sure what would work. For instance, the device is supposed to be TWAIN compatible, but it's not detected by my (admittedly old) Photoshop software. The device kinda looks like this: Do you have any video/still capture suggestions? Do you have experience with this kind of sort-of-digicam devices? Please let me know.
3 years ago, I bought this for my daughter, and this with it. The latter helps you see and save the images from the microscope onto a PC. It came with a software on a CD that was functional, but pretty kludgy. Still, it worked fine, and allowed her to save and print images from the microscope. Calibration/focus/magnification of the device can only be controlled through the software that came with the camera so you'll need to use that program if you need anything more than basic video/still image capture at the microscope's default settings. This is a link to the microscope's user manual if you didn't get a copy with the device.
If it's a USB device, connect it to the system and see if Windows can automatically find a driver for it. If not, after Windows gives up trying to locate a driver for it, open up Device Manager, find the device in the list of unknown devices, right-click on it and select Properties.

On the Details tab, look up the Device Instance ID. This is a long and complicated string. Record the entire Device Instance ID, bring it back to us and let us know what it is. From that it may be possible to find a driver, if one exists. We will also need to know what version of Windows the intended host system is running.
