Skin Ulaunchelf Ps2

Creating a Skin The skin file is a DivX5xx/XviD encoded I-Frame, named mc0:/SMS/SMS.skn. A small windows program ( pic2sms.exe) has been written to allow you to create these files from normal image files. You'll first of all need an image file to start from. In this example, I've used a holiday photo (jpeg). What you need to create is a bitmap file, with dimensions less than 800x600. If you want some help finding out where the screen elements are in relation to this, you can download a template file from here:. Warning - changes from SMS V1.5 to V1.6 may not be reflected in this template.

This is a Photoshop format (.psd) file, but if you haven't got Photoshop you can open it up in the GIMP (free graphics editor). When you've finished playing with how it looks, save the file as a single layer bitmap (.bmp) file into an empty folder on your computer. Next, download the SMS skin generator (Win32 App) pic2sms.exe from, and extract the pic2sms.exe file from the pic2sms.rar file using. Copy it into the same folder on your computer. Then try double clicking the file. If it opens up first time with no errors, everything's ok. If you see a message saying 'cannot find xvidcore.dll', close the program, then download xvidcore.dll from or any other location (try google).

Copy the file xvidcore.dll into the same directory as pic2sms.exe. When you run the program again, you should get no errors. Applying a Skin To apply a skin (whether it's one you've downloaded, or one you made yourself), you need to do the following: Get hold of your SMS.skn file.

If your file is xxxxxx.skn, rename it to SMS.skn. Now you need to transfer the file to mc0:SMS/SMS.skn (i.e onto the memory card in slot 1 on your PS2). Here we'll assume that you're transfering via FTP. On your PS2, start your ELF launcher (such as uLaunchELF), and select the FTP server program (e.g PS2NET). Once your PS2 FTP server is running, go to your PC, start up your FTP client (e.g. FileZilla), and connect to the PS2.

Skin

Drag and drop the file SMS.skn into the location mc0:/SMS/SMS.skn. When it completes, disconnect the FTP client and restart the PS2.

Ok, I've decided to use this post as my main post. I will update it whenever I add or change something. Here you will find the newest version of my uLaunchELF Template, and the uLE skins I've created. The reason for having both NTSC and PAL versions is explained.

If you want any modifications done to my skins to better suit what you want, please let me know, and I'll do my best to fix it for you (ex: change the colors, add something, etc). 2006-05-19 Update:. I created a Skin Template Readme that explains how to create your own custom skins in uLE. You can also find it in my signature. 2006-04-16 Update:. Skins have been moved over to spedmetal's uLE gallery. My uLE skins will sill be here, but all new skins will now be posted over in the gallery instead.

Soon I will upload the templates there as well. 2006-04-11 Update:. Uploaded my new skin titled ' Classic', which contains two separate versions. The 'classic1' skin just has the controller visible (for simplicity), and 'classic2' has the Controller with accessories compatible with uLaunchELF (see preview). Both versions are included in the classic640x480.zip attachment below. I think this is currently my best uLE skin so far. NOTE: I was waiting for someone to test the PAL version of my 'classic1' skin first, but I'm too impatient and decided to release it now.

If there are any alignment or display problems with these skins, please let me know, although I'm pretty sure there isn't. With uLaunchELF v3.60, you can now set Menus to have filled backgrounds with the ' Popups Opaque: ON' option under 'SCREEN SETTINGS'. This fixes the issue with my 'Jellies' skin colors clashing with the Virtual Keyboard text, thanks dlanor! 2008-10-01 Update:. I made a minor edit to my classic skin uLE-classicskins640x480.zip in the 'classic2 - with accessories' folder, by adding a drop shadow on all accessories so it's more consistant. I know it's probably irrelevant to most people and probably unnoticeable, but this minor detail was bugging me, so I decided to change it. Since spedmetal's is no longer online, any updates I make to my uLE skins will be here.

NOTE: all my Skins from now on will only be compatible with uLE v3.58 and above. If for some reason you want the older version of my skins or template compatible with uLE v3.52 to v3.57, then just PM me and ask. Check the ' changehistory.txt' file for previous update info. Hope you enjoy my updated skins and templates! Last edited by ps2dragon; at 07:53 PM. Reason: See change history above.

I've noticed on my NTSC unit that the bottom of the 640x480 image is cut off. So the credits to the makers of the images are not visible on uLE. But it is there.

Wish I had made the images. Thought about using one image that I did make though. Now Magma and Jacks are from a great group in the UK that have several PSP wallpapers. In fact both of those are converted from those. Also I've noticed that the darker the image weither from a dark pic or from overlaying the darker box in the middle.
